In classes I’ve had in the past, the professors have touched either a little or a lot on how language, cognition, and culture are inextricably connected. It’s truly fascinating, as a monolingual, to examine a language different from your own and to realize the speakers also have different concepts of socialization, time and space, etc. Intimidating, but fascinating.
